Because Karen Dubrow, Ph.D., D.M.T., has two Doctorates in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy, a double Master’s Degree, Master of Science in Physical Therapy and Master of Orthopedic Manual Therapy in addition to her Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy, her diagnostic skills are matchless. She takes the time and spends up to 1 1/2 hours for the patient’s initial evaluation. She listens first. She takes an extensive history. Then she performs a thorough evaluation including observation of static and movement patterns, pain provocation tests, active, passive, and resisted tests, specific joint tests, specific ligament tests if appropriate, specific neurologic testing, and functional testing. She correlates the information, provides a specific physical therapy/manual therapy diagnosis, and develops a treatment plan for the patient. Subsequent visits are one on one treatment sessions with Dr. Dubrow. Dr. Dubrow does not employ non-licensed personnel, aides or others to provide modality treatment to raise prices. She provides expert care. Dubrow Physical Therapy is a dynamic clinic in which there are different treatment options based on the patient´s needs. Dr. Dubrow offers Scientific Therapeutic Exercise Progression©/ Medical Exercise Therapy© classes in which patients may participate if this atmosphere would better suit the patient´s needs. Each patient receives an exercise program specifically designed for that patient. Through the use of STEP©, exercises are "dosed" for the actual problem of the patient. Whether the patient has a cartilage injury, ligament injury, bone injury, weakness in a particular muscle in a particular range of motion, the exercises are prescribed to resolve the underlying problem and return the patient to activity and/or sport. There are no cookie cutter approaches. Home exercises are also designed for the patient´s specific problem.
